Spalio 12 dieną užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis lankėsi Kaire, kur susitiko su Egipto užsienio reikalų ministru Samehu Shoukry. G. Landsbergis susitikime teigė, kad Lietuva ir Egiptas, Europa ir arabų pasaulis yra suinteresuoti išsaugoti taisyklėmis pagrįstą sistemą, kuri užtikrintų taiką ir stabilumą.
„Lietuva smerkia „Hamas“ žiaurius teroro išpuolius prieš Izraelį. Lietuva dalijasi sielvartu su aukų šeimomis ir reikalauja nedelsiant ir besąlygiškai paleisti visus įkaitus. Kadangi Izraelis susiduria su šiais precedento neturinčiais išpuoliais, jis turi teisėtą teisę gintis neperžengdamas tarptautinės humanitarinės teisės ribų, ypač dėl civilių gyventojų apsaugos”, – teigė Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
Ministras susitikime tvirtino, kad sutelkiant dėmesį į Izraelį ir Palestiną, labai svarbu išlikti įsipareigojusiems Ukrainai, nes ji ir toliau stoja prieš Rusijos agresiją.
„Nors geografiškai šis karas siaučia Europos žemyne, jis turi didžiulį pasaulinį poveikį. Sunaikindama grūdų saugyklas, uostus ir užtvankas, Rusija siekia blokuoti Ukrainos grūdų tiekimą pažeidžiamiausioms pasaulio vietoms. Mano nuomone, šie sąmoningi veiksmai prilygsta nusikaltimams žmoniškumui. Rusija taip pat siekia skleisti nestabilumą ne tik Europoje, bet ir Afrikoje bei kai kuriose arabų šalyse per savo samdinius ir žiaurią propagandą”, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
Ministras Egipte dar kartą pabrėžė, kad Ukrainos pergalė šiame kare ir visiško jos teritorinio vientisumo atkūrimas yra vienintelis būdas atkurti stabilumą ir taisyklėmis pagrįstą tvarką tiek Europoje, tiek pasaulyje.
Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas išreiškė lūkestį, kad Egiptas apsvarstys galimybę atidaryti Egipto ambasadą Vilniuje.
„Padrąsinau ministrą apsvarstyti galimybę atidaryti Egipto ambasadą Vilniuje, kuri dar labiau sustiprintų mūsų santykius”, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
Susitikimo metu taip pat aptarti dvišalio politinio ir ekonominio bendradarbiavimo klausimai, apsikeista nuomonėmis dėl bendradarbiavimo daugiašaliuose formatuose, taip pat aptartos Rusijos agresijos prieš Ukrainą globalios pasekmės, Artimųjų Rytų regiono bei kitų šalių aktualūs saugumo klausimai. Egiptas svarbus Lietuvos ir Europos Sąjungos partneris sprendžiant nelegalios migracijos bei pasaulinės maisto saugumo politikos klausimus, taip pat užtikrinant bendros laivų, vykstančių Sueco kanalu, pasaulinės prekybos stabilumą.
Aptartos ir perspektyvos plėsti bendradarbiavimą aukštųjų technologijų ir komunikacijos, transporto, energetikos, skaitmenizacijos bei žaliųjų technologijų srityse.
Tai buvo pirmasis ministro G. Landsbergio darbinis vizitas Egipte. Anksčiau Egipto užsienio reikalų ministras S. Shoukry Vilniuje buvo lankęsis 2019 m. spalio 19 d. Praėjusiais metais šalys minėjo diplomatinių santykių 30-metį.
