„Leiskite man nuoširdžiai padėkoti visiems, kurie prisidėjo prie šios dienos pavertimo tikrove. Ši ambasada iš tiesų yra naujo Lietuvos santykių su Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regiono ir stiprėjančios draugystės su Singapūru simbolis. Kaip mes mėgstame sakyti Europoje, už mūsų ir jūsų laisvę“, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
Pasak ministro, šis svarbus žingsnis įgyvendina Lietuvos strateginį įsipareigojimą – plėsti ryšius su Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regionu.
„Šios vyriausybės kadencijos metu jau atidarėme ambasadas Australijoje ir Pietų Korėjoje, taip pat ir prekybos atstovybę Taivaneׅ“, – sakė Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
Ambasadorius Darius Gaidys tvirtino, kad Singapūrą matome kaip patikimą tarpininką žvelgiant į kitas Pietryčių Azijos rinkas.
„Lietuva, nors ir būdama jūrinė valstybė, iki šiol nebuvo plačiai pasiekusi Pietryčių Azijos regiono. Oficialus ambasados atidarymas dalyvaujant Lietuvos ir Singapūro ministrams simbolizuoja jūrinių, sausumos ir oro kelių plėtrą Lietuvos verslui, turizmui, kultūriniams mainams“, – teigė ambasadorius.
