Spalio 27 dieną Užsienio reikalų ministerija kartu su Lietuvos savivaldybių asociacija organizavo renginį „Diasporos politikos įgyvendinimas savivaldybėse“, kurio tikslas – aptarti augantį Lietuvos savivaldybių vaidmenį įgyvendinant diasporos politiką, ypač – skatinant grįžimą į Lietuvą. Renginyje dalyvavo Lietuvos savivaldybių merai, vicemerai, savivaldybių administracijos padalinių atstovai.
„Trejus metus iš eilės į Lietuvą sugrįžo daugiau Lietuvos piliečių nei išvyko. Tendencija džiuginanti, bet kartu ir įpareigojanti mus visus toliau kryptingai ir sutelktai dirbti skatinant tautiečius grįžti į Lietuvą“, – renginio metu sakė užsienio reikalų viceministras Egidijus Meilūnas.
Pasak viceministro, Lietuvos savivaldybių įsitraukimas į diasporos politikos ir „sugrįžtančios Lietuvos“ idėjos įgyvendinimo veiklas yra itin svarbus, nes užsienyje gyvenantys kraštiečiai savo ryšį su Lietuva pirmiausia vertina per ryšį su gimtąja savivaldybe. Todėl tikslinga plėsti valstybės institucijų, diplomatinės tarnybos ir savivaldybių bendradarbiavimą stiprinant ryšius su užsienyje gyvenančiais tautiečiais ir skatinant jų grįžimą į Lietuvą.
Lietuvos savivaldybių asociacijos direktorė Roma Žakaitienė renginio dalyviams pabrėžė svarbą plėsti 2017 metais pradėtą iniciatyvą „Globalūs regionai“, kurios tikslas – burti užsienyje gyvenančių kraštiečių bendruomenes ir išplėsti Lietuvos ribas integruojant išvykusius lietuvius į gimtojo krašto gyvenimą. Šiuo metu projekte dalyvauja 22 savivaldybės.
Renginyje taip pat dalyvavo asociacijos „Pasaulio alytiškių bendruomenė“ vadovė Vilija Ramanauskienė, pristačiusi projekto „Diasporos ryšių su regionais vystymas ir stiprinimas“ rezultatus, pateikusi savivaldybėms asociacijos ir partnerių sukurtas bendradarbiavimo su diaspora gaires ir konkrečius siūlymus, kokių priemonių galėtų imtis savivaldybės, siekdamos įtraukti užsienyje gyvenančius kraštiečius į savivaldybės gyvenimą.
Užsienio reikalų ministerija yra Lietuvos diasporos politikos įgyvendinimo koordinatorė. Diasporos politikos įgyvendinime šiuo metu dalyvauja 32 valstybės institucijos ir organizacijos bei 18 savivaldybių, kitais metais šis skaičius dar labiau išaugs – į diasporos politikos įgyvendinimą planuoja įsitraukti 33 valstybės institucijos ir 42 savivaldybės.
