Europos autorių diena – tai nauja Komisijos iniciatyva, kuri pirmą kartą bus minima 2023 m. kovo 27 d. Iniciatyvos tikslas yra dvejopas: populiarinti Europos rašytojus per veiklą, kurią visose valstybėse narėse vykdo aktyvūs knygų sektoriaus dalyviai, ir skatinti skaitymą, ypač mokyklose.
Europos autorių dienos proga siūlomi trys skirtingo pobūdžio veiklos: skaitymas mokyklose; Europos autorių kelionė; skaitymo skatinimo konferencija.
Skaitymas mokyklose
Ši veikla apims lygiagrečius renginius vidurinėse mokyklose visose ES valstybėse narėse. Mokyklos kviečiamos rengti skaitymo užsiėmimus, kuriuose garsiai skaitys autoriai ar kiti populiarūs veikėjai. Siekdamos atkreipti dėmesį į knygų leidybos įvairovę, mokyklos taip pat gali pakviesti šio sektoriaus atstovą, kuris pristatytų įvairias profesijas (autorius, iliustratorius, vertėjus, redaktorius ir kt.).
Europos autoriai mokyklose
Europos autorių dienai paminėti mokyklose bus organizuojami renginiai. Mokyklos kviečiamos kviesti autorius ir surengti garsinio skaitymo valandėlę.

Kovo 27 d. Sofijoje (Bulgarija) vyksta skaitymo skatinimo konferencija, kurios tikslas – dalytis skaitymo patirtimi ir praktika. Konferencijoje dalyvaus valstybių narių Kultūros ir Švietimo ministerijų, atitinkamų valstybės institucijų ir šioje srityje veikiančių nacionalinių NVO atstovai, taip pat Europos lygmeniu knygų ir kultūros sektoriams atstovaujančios organizacijos (pavyzdžiui, EURead; Europos leidėjų federacija; Europos ir tarptautinė knygų pardavėjų federacija; Europos rašytojų taryba; Europos bibliotekų, informacijos ir dokumentacijos asociacijų biuras; Europos Sąjungos nacionaliniai kultūros institutai).
