Sveikatos apsaugos ministerija (SAM) spalio 6 d. paskelbė kvietimą teikti paraiškas Europos Sąjungos paramai, skirtai sveikatos centrų kūrimui. Paraiškų laukiama iki šių metų gruodžio 29 d. Bendra priemonės finansuojama suma sudaro 122,5 mln. Eur. Paramą ir projektus administruoja Centrinė projektų valdymo agentūra (CPVA).
Paraiškas gauti paramai gali teikti savivaldybės, kuriuose steigiami sveikatos centrai. Sostinės regionui numatyta 26,6 mln. Eur finansavimas, likusiai Lietuvai – 95,9 mln. Eur. Finansuojama dalis paramos lėšomis – iki 100 proc.
Lėšos gali būti nukreiptos pirminės ambulatorinės asmens sveikatos priežiūros bei antrinio lygio ambulatorinės specializuotos asmens sveikatos priežiūros, ambulatorinės chirurgijos, dienos chirurgijos, dienos stacionaro bei skubiosios pagalbos paslaugų infrastruktūrai modernizuoti.

Sveikatos centrai yra dalis sveikatos apsaugos reformos, kuria didinamas sveikatos paslaugų prieinamumas gyventojams – didinant šių paslaugų apimtis, mažinamas išvengiamas mirtingumas ir ilginama gyvenimo trukmė. Sveikatos centrai steigiami konsoliduojant savivaldybių gydymo įstaigas ir sveikatos paslaugas.
Ministerija primena, kad Lietuvoje 40 savivaldybių yra inicijavusios sveikatos centrų steigimą. Savo veiklą yra pradėję du sveikatos centrai – Radviliškyje ir Švenčionyse.
