Vidaus reikalų ministrė Agnė Bilotaitė kreipėsi į Generalinę prokuratūrą, prašydama įvertinti, ar Prezidentas Gitanas Nausėda nepažeidė įstatymo, pranešdamas apie su Leonido Volkovo užpuolimu susijusių asmenų sulaikymą Lenkijoje.
„Svarbu išsiaiškinti aplinkybes, kad tokia ydinga praktika, kai politikai komentuoja tyrimus pirma pareigūnų, nesikartotų. Prezidento veiksmus vertinu kaip neatsakingą kalbėjimą, kuris pakenkė Lietuvos ir Lenkijos pareigūnų tarpusavio pasitikėjimui, o taip pat galėjo pakenkti ikiteisminiam tyrimui. Siekiant išsiaiškinti visas aplinkybes ir įvertinti, ar nebuvo padaryta pažeidimų viešinant šią jautrią informaciją be bylą kontroliuojančio prokuroro leidimo, kreipiausi Į Generalinę prokuratūrą“, – teigia ministrė A. Bilotaitė.
Respublikos Prezidentas balandžio 19 d. spaudos konferencijoje pranešė, kad Lenkijoje buvo sulaikyti du asmenys, įtariami išpuoliu prieš Lietuvoje gyvenantį Rusijos opozicionierių L. Volkovą, informavo apie galimą sulaikytųjų perdavimą Lietuvai. Prokuratūros prašoma įvertinti, ar Prezidento veiksmuose nėra nusikaltimo numatyto LR Baudžiamojo kodekso 247 straipsnyje ,,Ikiteisminio tyrimo duomenų atskleidimas be leidimo“.
Ikiteisminį tyrimą dėl kovo 12 d. Vilniuje įvykdyto L. Volkovo užpuolimo organizuoja ir jam vadovauja Vilniaus apygardos prokuratūros Organizuotų nusikaltimų ir korupcijos tyrimo skyriaus prokuroras.
Šiuo metu, siekiant nustatyti visus asmenis, susijusius su šio nusikaltimo organizavimu ir padarymu, atliekami plataus masto, neviešo pobūdžio ikiteisminio tyrimo veiksmai, glaudžiai bendradarbiaujama su Lenkijos Respublikos ir kitų šalių teisėsaugos institucijomis. Atsižvelgiant į tai, kad šioje ikiteisminio tyrimo stadijoje dar yra atliekami aktyvūs tyrimo veiksmai, papildoma informacija apie tyrimo eigą ir rezultatus negali būti viešai teikiama.
