„Siekiant sumažinti šeimos gydytojams tenkantį krūvį ir užtikrinti dar sklandesnį pacientų sveikatos priežiūros procesą, dalis šeimos gydytojo funkcijų bus perleidžiama jo komandos nariams: atvejo vadybininkui, apylinkės administratoriui, slaugytojui, akušeriui, kineziterapeutui, socialiniam darbuotojui ir gyvensenos medicinos specialistui. Pastarojo pagrindinė užduotis – visapusiškas asmens gyvensenos ir lėtinių ligų rizikos veiksnių įvertinimas, gyvensenos korekcijos ir sveikatos stiprinimo planų sudarymas“, – sakė SAM Asmens sveikatos departamento Pirminės sveikatos priežiūros, odontologijos ir medicininės reabilitacijos skyriaus vyr. specialistė Virginija Karaliūtė Žulienė.

Gyvensenos medicina taikoma sergant įvairiausiomis lėtinėmis ligomis, pavyzdžiui, 2 tipo cukriniu diabetu, podagra, artritu, lėtine obstrukcine plaučių liga, alergija, autoimuninėmis ligomis, antsvoriu ar nutukimu, lėtine anemija, onkologinėmis ligomis. Taip pat besiskundžiantiems susilpnėjusiu imunitetu, bendru silpnumu ir nuovargiu, sutrikusia miego kokybe, negebėjimu valdyti streso.
Pasak K. Nausėdės, gyvensenos medicinos specialistai gali padėti pacientams, atsidūrusiems širdies ir kraujagyslių ligų rizikos grupėje. Tokie pacientai neretai kenčia nuo cholesterolio, taip pat turi didesnę riziką susirgti ateroskleroze: „Tai reiškia, jog siaurėja ir standėja paciento kraujagyslės, jose susidaro randėjančios plokštelės ateromos, formuojasi trombai. Kyla miokardo infarkto, insulto, aortos išsiplėtimo ir kitų pavojingų sveikatos būklių rizika. Kadangi cholesterolio kiekio padidėjimas yra susijęs su gyvensenos įpročiais, juos saugiai ir efektyviai koreguoti padeda gyvensenos medicinos specialistas.“
