Siekiant pritraukti daugiau užsienio lietuvių rinktis studijas Lietuvos aukštosiose mokyklose, Švietimo, mokslo ir sporto ministerija jiems skiria valstybės paramą. Tokios paramos šiemet sulauks daugiau nei 200 lietuvių kilmės užsienio studentų.
„Jau keletą metų stebime teigiamą tendenciją ir džiaugiamės, kad užsienio lietuvių, pasirenkančių studijuoti Lietuvoje, skaičius nuosekliai auga. Tai skatina ne tik didesnį studijų tarptautiškumą, bet ir lietuvių kultūrinės tapatybės tęstinumą. Tikimės, jog valstybės parama motyvuos studijuoti atvykstančius užsienio lietuvius sėkmingai užbaigti studijas ir įgytas žinias panaudoti dirbant čia, Lietuvoje“, – sako švietimo, mokslo ir sporto viceministras Justas Nugaras.
Šį rudenį valstybės parama suteikta 211 užsienio lietuvių iš 30 skirtingų pasaulio šalių. Tradiciškai, daugiausiai lietuvių kilmės studentų atvyksta iš kaimyninės Lenkijos, taip pat iš Airijos, Didžiosios Britanijos, Vokietijos, JAV, Kazachstano, Libano, Malaizijos, Tuniso, Turkijos, Armėnijos.
Šiemet valstybės paramą gavę užsienio lietuviai studijuoja 21-oje Lietuvos aukštojoje mokykloje. Daugiausia užsienio lietuvių pritraukia medicinos ir odontologijos studijų programos. Tarp šių studentų taip pat populiarios matematikos, informacinių technologijų ir inžinierinių programų, lingvistikos studijų programos.
Užsienio lietuviams gali būti skiriama dviejų rūšių parama: beveik 160 eurų kas mėnesį siekianti stipendija ir socialinė išmoka, siekianti nuo 203 iki 319 eurų per semestrą.
Planuojama, jog 2023–2024 m. m. užsienio lietuvių studijoms Lietuvoje paremti bus skirta daugiau nei 146 tūkst. eurų. Paramą užsienio lietuviams administruoja Valstybinis studijų fondas.
