Lietuvos mokinių neformaliojo švietimo centras. Liepos 2–11 dienomis Al Aine, Jungtiniuose Arabų Emyratuose, vyko 34-oji Tarptautinė biologijos olimpiada, kurioje varžėsi mokiniai iš 78 šalių. Puikiai pasirodžiusi Lietuvos komanda parsiveža net du sidabro ir du bronzos medalius.
Sidabro medalius iškovojo Vilniaus jėzuitų gimnazijos abiturientės Jorūnė Budriūnaitė ir Bernadeta Savicka. Abi mokines paruošė mokytoja Ala Vaicekauskienė.
Bronzos medaliais apdovanoti Kauno „Saulės“ gimnazijos mokinys Ainis Lukša (mokyt. Laura Verikienė) ir Vilniaus jėzuitų gimnazijos abiturientė Urtė Pangonytė (mokyt. Ala Vaicekauskienė ir Paulius Sungaila).
Lietuvos komandai šioje olimpiadoje vadovavo Vilniaus universiteto Gyvybės mokslų centro Biomokslų instituto docentas dr. Andrius Petrašiūnas, Vilniaus universiteto docentė dr. Rasa Sabaliauskaitė ir Vilniaus universiteto Biotechnologijos instituto Pavienių ląstelių analizės skyriaus doktorantas Dominykas Murza.
2024 metais Tarptautinė biologijos olimpiada vyks Kazachstane, 2026 metais garbė organizuoti šį prestižinį mokslo renginį patikėta Lietuvai.
