Socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministerija pradėjo derybas su Australijos socialinių paslaugų ministerija dėl tarptautinės sutarties socialinės apsaugos srityje sudarymo.
Šios sutarties tikslas – užtikrinti žmonių, gyvenančių Lietuvoje ar Australijoje, ir turinčių stažo abiejose valstybėse, pensinį aprūpinimą ir sureguliuoti pensijų skyrimo ir mokėjimo bei socialinio draudimo įmokų mokėjimo klausimus asmenims, kurie iš vienos valstybės persikelia į kitą valstybę gyventi ar dirbti.
Šiuo metu pensijų mokėjimo klausimai reguliuojami valstybių nacionaliniais teisės aktais. Taigi, nustatant asmens teisę į pensiją, asmens laikotarpis, įgytas Australijoje, nėra įskaitomas.
Sutartis gali turėti teigiamos įtakos verslo sąlygoms ir jo plėtrai. Įsigaliojus sutarčiai, bus sureguliuotas taikytinos teisės ir įmokų mokėjimo klausimas asmenims, dirbantiems vienos ar abiejų valstybių teritorijoje, dėl to bus išvengta dvigubo draudimo.
