Sausio 11 dieną užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis Vilniuje susitiko Rumunijos užsienio reikalų ministre Luminița-Teodora Odobescu, atvykusia į šiandien prasidedančią tarptautinę saugumo politikos konferenciją „Sniego susitikimas 2024“.
Pasak Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovo, šis vizitas patvirtina puikius dvišalius santykius, grindžiamus bendrais saugumo ir gynybos interesais, artimu bendradarbiavimu ES ir NATO, bendru siekiu stiprinti transatlantinius ryšius.
„Vertiname Rumuniją kaip aktyvią, kompetentingą ir patikimą partnerę, reikšmingai padedančią Moldovai ir Rusijos užpultai Ukrainai“, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
Susitikime Lietuvos ir Rumunijos užsienio reikalų ministrai daugiausia dėmesio skyrė ilgalaikei Rusijos sulaikymo strategijai, siekiant sustabdyti jos ekspansionizmą, diskutavo apie galimybes kurti naująją Europos saugumo architektūrą be Rusijos.
„Būtina ir toliau izoliuoti agresorę tarptautinėse organizacijose ir mažinti jos galimybes tęsti karą, didinant spaudimą per taikomas sankcijas. Iki antrųjų Rusijos invazijos Ukrainoje metinių turime sutarti dėl kuo stipresnio naujo sankcijų Rusijai paketo“, – tvirtino Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
Ministrai taip pat aptarė priemones, kuriomis būtų galima stiprinti atgrasymą ir gynybą NATO Rytų flange bei kaip padėti Ukrainai ginantis nuo Rusijos agresijos.
„Šiuo metu dar agresyvesnį Rusijos puolimą patiriančiai Ukrainai pradeda trūkti ginklų ir ypač amunicijos bei oro gynybos sistemų. Amunicijos gamyba ir tiekimas Ukrainai – tai mūsų bendras (ES) įsipareigojimas, kuris turi būti vykdomas itin skubiai. Turime siekti užtikrinti tvarų, nuspėjamą ir ilgalaikį įsipareigojimą teikti karinę paramą Ukrainai per Europos taikos priemonę ateinančius 4 metus ir ilgiau bei užtikrinti, kad Europos Sąjungos šalių gynybos pramonės prioritetu taptų amunicijos ir ginkluotės gamyba Ukrainai“, – teigė G. Landsbergis.
Lietuvos ir Rumunijos užsienio reikalų ministrai taip pat reiškė paramą Ukrainos ir Moldovos siekiui tapti Europos Sąjungos narėmis bei aptarė tikslus ir lūkesčius šiemet vyksiančiam NATO viršūnių susitikimui – patvirtintų gynybos planų įgyvendinimo, pažangos vykdant gynybos išlaidų įsipareigojimus ir tolesnės pažangos Ukrainos stojimo į NATO kontekste.
Ministras G. Landsbergis pasveikino Rumuniją su daliniu prisijungimu prie Šengeno erdvės (nuo šių metų kovo 31 d., kuomet nebeliks patikros vykstant per šalies oro ir jūrų uostus) ir išreiškė paramą kuo greitesnei pilnai narystei.
Šių metų vasarą Lietuva ir Rumunija minės diplomatinių santykių šimtmetį.
