Rugsėjo 15 dieną užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis susitiko su naujuoju Vokietijos ambasadoriumi Lietuvai dr. Cornelius Zimmermann.
Ministras pasveikino ambasadorių, išreikšdamas viltį, kad dvišalis bendradarbiavimas tarp Lietuvos ir Vokietijos bus toliau stiprinamas.
„Turime bendrų svarbių darbų ir džiaugiamės, kad galime juos atlikti kartu su tokia stipria ir patikima partnere kaip Vokietija“, – teigė Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
Susitikimo metu daugiausia dėmesio skirta regiono saugumo ir gynybos, paramos Ukrainai temoms. G. Landsbergis padėkojo už istorinį Vokietijos sprendimą nuolat dislokuoti Vokietijos brigadą Lietuvoje ir už tvirtą partnerystę saugant taisyklėmis grįstą pasaulio tvarką. Ministras pabrėžė, kad pasirengimas dislokuoti Vokietijos brigadą yra svarbus abiejų pusių prioritetas, akcentuodamas, kad bendros pastangos turėtų būti sutelktos į detalaus Vokietijos brigados dislokavimo Lietuvoje plano patvirtinimą ir įgyvendinimą.
Ministras taip pat pabrėžė tolesnės paramos Ukrainai svarbą.
„Privalome susitelkti ir padėti Ukrainai pasiekti pergalę, tiekdami daugiau jai reikalingų ginklų, stiprindami sankcijas, prisidėdami prie kritinės infrastruktūros atkūrimo ir telkdami jėgas šalies atstatymui“, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
Vokietijos ambasadorius dr. C. Zimmermann skiriamuosius raštus Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidentui įteikė 2023 m. rugpjūčio 28 d.
