Šių išteklių neršto apsaugai (kaip papildoma išsaugojimo priemonė) pritaikytas 1 mėnesio pelaginės žvejybos draudimas. Taip pat nustatytos lašišų pagrindiniame baseine, rytinių ir vakarinių menkių neišvengiamos priegaudos žvejybos galimybės.
Žemės ūkio ministras Kęstutis Navickas kategoriškai nesutiko su pradiniu EK siūlymu, pagal kurį siekta uždrausti tikslinę centrinių strimelių žvejybą, o kitų žuvų kvotas ženkliai sumažinti.
