Balandžio 26 dieną į Užsienio reikalų ministeriją (URM) buvo iškviestas Rusijos Federacijos ambasados Lietuvos Respublikoje laikinasis reikalų patikėtinis Alexander Elkin, kuriam pareikštas protestas dėl Permės srityje, Rusijoje, nugriauto paminklo ten palaidotiems tremtiniams iš Lietuvos ir Lenkijos.
Susitikimo metu URM diplomatai pabrėžė, kad toks veiksmas gali būti vertinamas tik kaip visiška nepagarba istorinei tiesai ir atminimui, bandymas pateisinti stalinizmo režimo nusikaltimus.
2016 metais sukurtas paminklas, stovėjęs šalia kapinių, kuriose palaidota 90 tremtinių iš Lietuvos ir Lenkijos, buvo finansuotas iš asmeninių lietuvių ir lenkų lėšų.
