Spalio 9-12 dienomis Užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis vyksta su darbiniu vizitu į Omaną ir Egiptą, kurio metu dalyvaus 27-ąjame Europos Sąjungos – Persijos įlankos bendradarbiavimo tarybos šalių ministrų susitikime bei planuojami dvišaliai susitikimai.
Spalio 9-10 d. Omano sostinėje Maskate ES – Persijos įlankos bendradarbiavimo tarybos šalių ministrų susitikime bus patvirtintas ES įsipareigojimas palaikyti strateginę partnerystę su Persijos įlankos šalimis, aptariami regioninio saugumo, bendradarbiavimo prekybos ir investicijų, klimato kaitos, vystymosi ir humanitarinės pagalbos teikimo srityse klausimai. Jungtinėje taryboje ministras G. Landsbergis pasisakys dėl Rusijos karo agresijos prieš Ukrainą globalių pasekmių.
Vizito Omane metu planuojami ministro G. Landsbergio dvišaliai susitikimai su Omano, Jungtinių Arabų Emyratų, Kataro, Kuveito ir Saudo Arabijos ministrais. Šių susitikimų metu numatoma aptarti dvišalio bendradarbiavimo stiprinimą, pateikti pasiūlymus dėl ekonominių ir prekybinių ryšių stiprinimo, paskatinti turizmo mainus, paspartinti dvišalių teisinio bendradarbiavimo sutarčių pasirašymą.
Tai pirmasis ministro G. Landsbergio oficialus vizitas į Omaną. 2022 m. vasario 21 d. užsienio reikalų ministras G. Landsbergis dalyvavo ES-Persijos įlankos bendradarbiavimo tarybos šalių ministrų susitikime Briuselyje.
Spalio 11-12 dienomis ministras pirmą kartą su oficialiu/darbiniu vizitu lankysis Egipto sostinėje Kaire, kur susitiks su Egipto užsienio reikalų ministru Sameh Shoukry bei kitais aukšto rango Egipto pareigūnais, o taip pat su Arabų Lygos generaliniu sekretoriumi Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Susitikimuose bus aptariami Lietuvos ir Egipto politiniai santykiai, ekonominis ir prekybinis bendradarbiavimas bei keičiamasi nuomonėmis daugiašalės darbotvarkės klausimais.
1992 sausio 22 d. Lietuva užmezgė diplomatinius santykius su Egiptu. Nuo 2001 m. Kaire veikia Lietuvos diplomatinė atstovybė.
