Spalio 3 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministras Egidijus Meilūnas Vilniuje susitiko su naujuoju Ekvadoro ambasadoriumi Diego Fernando Morejon Pazmino. Berlyne reziduojantis diplomatas – šeštasis Lietuvoje akredituotas Ekvadoro ambasadorius. Tą pačią dieną jis įteikė skiriamuosius raštus Lietuvos Prezidentui Gitanui Nausėdai.
E. Meilūnas pažymėjo, kad Lietuva vertina Jungtinėse Tautose reiškiamą Ekvadoro paramą su Rusijos agresija kovojančiai Ukrainai ir pakvietė prisidėti prie šalių, kurios siekia Rusijos atsakomybės už nusikaltimus. „Taip pat svarbu bendromis pastangomis užkirsti kelią Rusijos skleidžiamai dezinformacijai“, – sakė viceministras.
Susitikime taip pat aptartos galimybės plėtoti dvišalę prekybą – iš Lietuvos eksportuoti trąšas, teikti informacinių technologijų paslaugas kibernetinio saugumo ir e-Vyriausybės, finansų technologijų srityse.
Įvertinęs Ekvadoro dėmesį aplinkos apsaugai, viceministras pakvietė pasidomėti Lietuvoje įdiegta taros užstato sistema, kuri galėtų būti pritaikyta ir Ekvadore.
E. Meilūnas pažymėjo, kad būtų vertinga su Ekvadoru surengti pirmąsias dvišales konsultacijas.
