Vidaus reikalų viceministras Arnoldas Abramavičius susitiko su Vilniuje besilankančiu Jungtinių Amerikos Valstijų Valstybės departamento atstovu Scott Lang. Susitikimo metu aptarti Lietuvos migracijos politikos įgyvendinimo klausimai, taip pat parama Ukrainai.
Viceministras A. Abramavičius pristatė Lietuvoje vykdomas priemones, kuriomis siekiama užkirsti kelią neteisėtai migracijai, taip pat aptarė legalios migracijos aktualijas.
JAV Valstybės departamento Gyventojų, pabėgėlių ir migracijos biuro regioninis koordinatorius Scott Lang dėkojo Lietuvai už lyderystę, solidarumą ir reikšmingą indėlį teikiant paramą Ukrainai bei integracijos Ukrainos piliečiams sąlygų sudarymą, taip pat akcentavo, kad JAV parama demokratinei Ukrainai bus toliau teikiama ir didinama.
Susitikimo metu buvo aptartas Lietuvos dalyvavimas Jungtinių Tautų vyriausiojo pabėgėlių reikalų komisaro biuro koordinuojamame Regioniniame reagavimo į pabėgėlių situaciją dėl padėties Ukrainoje plane, kuriame Lietuva dalyvauja nuo 2023 m. Šis planas suteikia galimybę tarptautinėms ir nevyriausybinėms organizacijoms gauti papildomų lėšų, skirtų svarbiausių Ukrainos pabėgėlių poreikių užtikrinimui, įskaitant būstą, sveikatą ir apsaugą.
Viceministras A. Abramavičius taip pat pabrėžė svarbų JAV paramos vaidmenį Lietuvos sienos apsaugos stiprinime, įskaitant techninę pagalbą ir įrangos tiekimą, kuris reikšmingai prisidėjo atremiant Baltarusijos hibridinę ataką.
