Šių metų gruodžio 7 d. Vilniaus Rotušėje įvyko iškilmingas 2014–2020 m. Interreg Latvijos ir Lietuvos bendradarbiavimo per sieną programos uždarymo renginys, kuris sukvietė programos projektų partnerius ir kitus programa susidomėjusius asmenis.
Pasak vidaus reikalų viceministro Arnoldo Abramavičiaus, praėjusio laikotarpio Interreg Latvijos ir Lietuvos bendradarbiavimo per sieną programą galima laikyti 132 projektų sėkmės istorija.
„Lietuvos ir Latvijos bendradarbiavimas kasmet tampa vis glaudesnis. Ypač džiugu, kad jau beveik 20 metų turime INTERREG programas, kuriomis remiama bendradarbiavimo per sieną veikla. Kartu siekiame, kad Latvijos ir Lietuvos pasienio regionas taptų konkurencingesnis ir patrauklesnis gyventi, dirbti ir lankytis žmonėms”, – sakė viceministras A. Abramavičius.
Lietuvos ir Latvijos savivaldybės, muziejai, teatrai, universitetai, priešgaisrinės apsaugos tarnybos, nevyriausybinės organizacijos ir kitos institucijos baigė įgyvendinti bendradarbiavimo projektus skirtus tvariai ir švariai aplinkai užtikrinti, darbo jėgos mobilumui ir užimtumui didinti, socialinei įtraukčiai paskatinti, gerinančius gyvenimo kokybę per veiksmingas viešąsias paslaugas ir administravimą. Renginio metu buvo apdovanota 12 geriausių Lietuvos ir Latvijos regionų išrinktų projektų ir 3 labiausiai visuomenei ir programos renginio dalyviams patikę projektų informaciniai vaizdo klipai (nuoroda).
Programos 3-jų kvietimų ir strateginio projekto kvietimo metu projektams paskirstyta virš 66,12 mln. eurų Europos Sąjungos lėšų. Iš viso projektuose sudalyvavo 499 partneriai, iš kurių 229 partneriai – Lietuvos institucijos. Lietuvos pusėje sėkmingai investuota 32,5 mln. eurų paramos lėšų. Užverdami 2014–2020 m. Latvijos ir Lietuvos programos puslapius programos atstovai jautėsi pakiliai, nes priešakyje laukia naujos 2021–2027 m. Europos Sąjungos finansinio laikotarpio bendradarbiavimo galimybės skiriant paramą naujiems projektams prisidedantiems prie Lietuvos ir Latvijos pasienio regiono gerovės kūrimo (nuoroda į naujos programos 1 kvietimo projektus).
