Prie Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Žemės ūkio akademijos pasodintas jos įkūrimo 100-mečiui skirtas ąžuolynas. Renginyje dalyvavęs bei vardinį ąžuoliuką pasodinęs žemės ūkio ministras Kęstutis Navickas ąžuolyno sodinimą pavadino prasminga iniciatyva, skirta ateities kartoms.

Pasak VDU rektoriaus prof. dr. Juozo Augučio, baigusieji šią aukštąją mokyklą pasodino milžinišką skaičių miškų, augina duoną ir maitina Lietuvą. Pasodinta ąžuolų giraitė simbolizuos ryšį su praeitim, dabartim ir ateitim.
Per visus šiuo metus stiprėjo mokslinių tyrimų bazė, didėjo mokslinių tyrimų ir mokslo paslaugų apimtys, keitėsi studijų programos kryptys, tačiau Akademija niekada nenutolo nuo žemės ūkio ir kaimo. „Universitetas šiandien didžiuojasi itin stipriu ryšiu su alumnais, aktyviu absolventų klubu, 16 mecenatų, beveik 200 partnerių ir stipria Akademijos bendruomene. Tikiu, kad visi kartu ir toliau kursime inovatyvų, modernų žemės ūkį, kaimą ir regionus“, – neabejojo VDU Žemės ūkio akademijos kanclerė prof. dr. Astrida Miceikienė.
