Birželio 18 dieną Keiptauno Holokausto ir genocido centre atidaryta kilnojamoji paroda, skirta unikalios dainininkės Chayelos Rosenthal (1924–1979) gyvenimo istorijai.
Aktorės ir dainininkės Chayelos Rosenthal karjera prasidėjo prieškario Vilniuje ir tęsėsi Vilniaus geto teatre. Išgyvenusi neįtikėtiną Holokausto tragediją, ji gyvenimą iš naujo pradėjo Pietų Afrikoje ir vėliau tapo Brodvėjaus žvaigžde.
Parodoje pristatomas Chayelos prieškarinis gyvenimas ir jos nepaprasta išlikimo bei pasipriešinimo istorija, nagrinėjamos Chayelos sąsajos su YIVO, jos pokario karjera Paryžiuje, Keiptaune, Niujorke ir didžiulis indėlis į tarptautinį jidiš teatrą.
Keiptauno Holokausto ir genocido centre veikianti Vilniaus Gaono Lietuvos žydų istorijos muziejaus parengta Vilniaus geto teatro plakatų paroda sukuria įtaigų foną vienos šeimos istorijai papasakoti.
Parodos atidaryme kalbėjęs Lietuvos ambasadorius Pietų Afrikos Respublikoje Dainius Junevičius gausiai susirinkusiai žydų bendruomenei ir diplomatams priminė tuometinio Lietuvos žydų kultūros klubo pirmininko teatrologo prof. Marko Petuchausko pastangomis prieš 20 metų surengtą Chayelos dukros Naavos Piatkos motinos dainų koncertą, buvusio Vilniaus geto teatro patalpose, ir supažindino su žydų kultūros atgimimu nepriklausomojoje Lietuvoje.
Lietuvos ambasada PAR yra šios kilnojamosios parodos partnerė. Paroda primena prieš 80 metų įvykusį Vilniaus geto sunaikinimą ir yra skirta artėjančiai Lietuvos žydų genocido aukų atminimo dienai.
