Žemės ūkio ministras Kęstutis Navickas susitiko su Jungtinių Amerikos Valstijų ambasadore Lietuvai Kara C. McDonald. Diplomatė šiose pareigose dirba nuo šių metų sausio, ji pakeitė kadenciją baigusį ambasadorių Robertą Gilchristą.
Susitikimo metu aptartas dvišalių Lietuvos ir JAV santykių žemės ūkio srityje stiprinimas, nuosekliai auganti prekyba žemės ūkio ir maisto produktais.
Ambasadorė domėjosi tvaraus ūkininkavimo plėtra Lietuvoje bei klimato kaitos keliamais iššūkiais žemės ūkyje. Susitikime aptartas planuojamas JAV Pensilvanijos valstijos Žemės ūkio departamento atstovų vizitas Lietuvoje, kurio metu daug dėmesio būtų skiriama Lietuvos ir Pensilvanijos bendradarbiavimui mokslinių tyrimų srityje.
Paliestas ir Lietuvos lyderystės, ribojant Rusijos ir Baltarusijos žemės ūkio ir maisto produktų importą į Europos Sąjungą (ES) klausimas. Ambasadorė teiravosi apie ribojamų priemonių įvedimo apimtis ir galimybes jas plėsti. Ministras išreiškė viltį, kad Lietuvos ir bendraminčių ES šalių pastangos duos rezultatų ir artimiausiu metu šių šalių produkcijos ES šalyse matysime vis mažiau.
„Lietuvą ir JAV sieja ilgalaikė ir stipri partnerystė. JAV išlieka prioritetine mūsų maisto pramonės rinka. Dvišalė prekyba žemės ūkio ir maisto produktais kasmet auga, tikimės, kad ir ateityje augs. Siekiame ir toliau skatinti sveikų, natūralių, ekologiškų ir pridėtinę vertę kuriančių lietuviškų maisto produktų eksportą į JAV ir pasiūlyti šiuos produktus platesniam vartotojų ratui“, – sakė ministras K. Navickas.
Eksporto struktūroje pagal šalis 2023 m. JAV buvo 21 vietoje iš 157 eksporto partnerių. Praėjusiais metais eksportas į JAV siekė 89 mln. eurų, o Lietuva iš šios valstybės importavo už 78 mln. eurų. Prekybos vietose JAV vartotojai jau gali rasti ekologiškų sriubų, duonos gaminių, pieno produktų, ekologiškų kanapių sėklų, įvairių užkandžių, pavyzdžiui, liofilizuotų ledų, kitų maisto produktų iš Lietuvos.
