Ministras pažymėjo išskirtinę ES plėtros svarbą Europos saugumui, stabilumui ir gerovei.
„Labai gerai suprantame Sakartvelą ir Ukrainą. Prisimenu frazę, kurią kartojome: Lietuva ne įstoja į Europos šeimą, o grįžta. Tai buvo neatsiejamas supratimas, kad mums reikia grįžti. Todėl dabar mes taip tvirtai suprantame šalis, kurios taip pat siekia grįžti į savo kultūrinę bendruomenę, kuriai iš tiesų priklauso“, – teigė Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
G. Landsbergio teigimu, ES plėtros procesas turi būtų grįstas stipriu įsipareigojimu Europos vertybėms, todėl jo sėkmei svarbu ne tik kandidačių geopolitiniai pasirinkimai, tačiau ir pažanga stiprinant demokratiją.
