Spalio 13 dieną Lietuvos užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis Italijos Tarptautinių santykių instituto (Istituto Affari Internazionali) kvietimu, kartu su Italijos žurnalistais ir akademinio pasaulio atstovais kalbėjo apie Europos saugumo ateitį.
Diskusijoje ministras ragino tarptautinę bendruomenę neleisti kitų valstybių konfliktams nukreipti dėmesio nuo Rusijos karo prieš Ukrainą: „Dar ne vėlu priimti sprendimus. Vis dar turime galimybę įvertinti politinius sprendimus ir padėti Ukrainai laimėti. Kai užpildysime šią paramos Ukrainai spragą, tuomet išspręsime likusius klausimus“.
Diskusijos su Italijos Tarptautinių santykių instituto vadove Nathalie Tocci metu, ministras pažymėjo, kad ilgalaikė parama Ukrainai padės sukurti patikimą ir grėsmėms atsparią Europos saugumo architektūrą.
„Mes tvirtai tikime, kad Ukrainos pergalė yra labai svarbi pasaulio stabilizavimui, nes ji padėtų sustabdyti chaotišką Rusijos darbotvarkę“ – teigė Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas.
G. Landsbergis taip pat kalbėjo apie būtinybę mažinti ekonominę bei energetinę priklausomybę nuo autoritarinių režimų ir toliau stiprinti Europos gynybinius pajėgumus.
