Spalio 27 dieną Lietuvos užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis lankosi Singapūre, kur susitiko su kolega – užsienio reikalų ministru Vivian Balakrishnan. G. Landsbergis teigė, kad tiek ES, tiek Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regiono valstybės turi bendrą interesą – užtikrinti, kad taisyklėmis pagrįsta tarptautinė tvarka išliktų atspari ir pajėgi atlaikyti geopolitinius ir ekonominius sukrėtimus.
„Lietuvos Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų strategijoje matome Singapūrą kaip svarbų bendramintį partnerį Pietryčių Azijos valstybių asociacijoje (angl. ASEAN) ir norime aktyvesnio politinio dialogo siekiant kartu stiprinti taisyklėmis grindžiamą tvarką“, – sakė G. Landsbergis.
„Gyvename neramiais laikais. Nesvarbu, ar tai būtų žiaurus karas, kurį Rusija kariauja prieš savo suverenią kaimynę Ukrainą, ar smurtas Artimuosiuose Rytuose, ar didėjantis netikrumas šiame regione, visi ženklai rodo mūsų bendrą interesą vienytis aplink taisyklių sistemą, užtikrinančią ir Europos, ir Pietryčių Azijos žmonių saugumą ir gerovę“, – sakė ministras.
Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas susitikime teigė, kad keičiantis geopolitinei realybei, svarbu, jog politinę partnerystę papildytų ir ekonominis patikimų partnerių bendradarbiavimas atveriant naujas rinkas bei siekiant abipusių investicijų. Todėl, pasak jo, Lietuva nori pritraukti daugiau Singapūro investicijų į perspektyvius Lietuvos sektorius – biotechnologijų, fintech, programinės įrangos ir IT paslaugų.
Ministrai Singapūre taip pat aptarė paramą Ukrainai, apžvelgė Rusijos sukelto karo pasekmes regionui ir pasaulio saugumui.
2023 m. minimas Lietuvos ir Singapūro diplomatinių santykių užmezgimo trisdešimtmetis.
Spalio 24–31 dienomis ministras kartu su Lietuvos verslo delegacija lankosi Vietname, Singapūre ir Indonezijoje.
