LMNŠC nuotr. Liepos 10-17 d. Tokijuje vyko 53-ioji tarptautinė fizikos olimpiada, kurioje varžėsi mokiniai iš 82 pasaulio šalių. Lietuvos komanda olimpiadoje pelnė sidabro ir du bronzos medalius bei pagyrimo raštą.
Sidabro medalį iškovojo Vilniaus jėzuitų gimnazijos abiturientas Tomas Babelis, kurį olimpiadai rengė mokytojas Jaan Kalda.
Bronzos medalius pelnė Vilniaus licėjaus mokinys Paulius Kalinauskas, kurį moko Eugenijus Rudminas, ir Kauno technologijos universiteto gimnazijos mokinys Tomas Razbadauskas. Tomo mokytojas yra Tomas Kivaras.
Pagyrimo raštu pagerbtas Klaipėdos licėjaus mokinys Jokūbas Viršilas. Jį moko Marius Žadvydas.
Olimpiadoje taip pat dalyvavo Kauno technologijos universiteto gimnazijos abiturientas Dominykas Krasauskas.
Lietuvos komandai Tarptautinėje fizikos olimpiadoje vadovavo Vilniaus universiteto Fizikos fakulteto docentas dr. Jevgenij Chmeliov ir Fizinių ir technologijos mokslų centro mokslo darbuotojas dr. Vytautas Jakštas.
Tarptautinė fizikos olimpiada (IPhO) yra laikoma prestižiškiausiu tarptautiniu vidurinės mokyklos moksleivių fizikos konkursu. Pagrindinis IPhO tikslas – patikrinti jaunuolių žinias, kritinį mąstymą, problemų sprendimą, praktinius teorinės ir eksperimentinės fizikos įgūdžius.
IPhO rengiama kasmet vis kitoje pasaulio valstybėje. Joje dalyvauja nacionalinės komandos iš ne daugiau kaip penkių geriausi fizikos mokinių ir dviejų komandos vadovų.
