Spalio 24 dieną Užsienio reikalų ministerijoje lankėsi Latvijos Parlamento ir Užsienio reikalų ministerijos delegacija, kuriai vadovavo Latvijos Parlamento Užsienio reikalų komiteto pirmininko pavaduotoja ir Bendradarbiavimo su diaspora grupės pirmininkė Irma Kalniņa. Delegacija į Lietuvą atvyko konsultacijoms diasporos politikos klausimais. Konsultacijų metu pasidalinta patirtimi, aptarti gerosios praktikos pavyzdžiai ir diasporos politikos įgyvendinimo iššūkiai.
„Lietuvos ir Latvijos diasporos parama yra labai svarbi siekiant regiono saugumo užtikrinimo, turime telkti mūsų diasporą tęstinei paramai Ukrainai, kovojančiai su brutalia Rusijos agresija“, – sakė užsienio reikalų viceministras Egidijus Meilūnas. Viceministras taip pat pristatė Lietuvos Vyriausybės veiklą stiprinant lituanistinį švietimą, diasporos įtraukimą į Lietuvos gyvenimą bei skatinant grįžimą į Lietuvą.
Konsultacijų metu Užsienio reikalų ministerijos Globalios Lietuvos departamento direktorė Lina Žukauskaitė pristatė Lietuvos diasporos politikos strategines gaires „Globali Lietuva“ ir jų įgyvendinimo veiksmų planą, diasporos politikos įgyvendinime dalyvaujančių valstybės institucijų ir organizacijų bei savivaldybių priemones, skirtas stiprinti valstybės ir diasporos dialogą bei partnerystę. Latvijos delegacija taip pat lankėsi LR Seime, kur susitiko su Seimo nare, Pasaulio lietuvių bendruomenės komisijos pirmininke, Dalia Asanavičiūte ir šios komisijos nariais.
Užsienio reikalų ministerija yra Lietuvos diasporos politikos įgyvendinimo koordinatorė. Diasporos politikos įgyvendinime šiuo metu dalyvauja 32 valstybės institucijos ir organizacijos bei 18 savivaldybių. Kitais metais šis skaičius dar labiau išaugs – į diasporos politikos įgyvendinimą planuoja įsitraukti 33 valstybės institucijos ir 42 savivaldybės.
