Lietuvos delegacija dirbs Jungtinių Tautų (JT) Moterų padėties komisijoje – atstovauti Rytų Europos regionui 2025-2029 m. kadencijoje mūsų šalis išrinkta Ekonomikos ir socialinių reikalų taryboje Niujorke vykusiuose rinkimuose. Ši komisija yra pagrindinė pasaulinė tarpvyriausybinė institucija, skirta tik lyčių lygybei ir moterų įgalinimui skatinti.
Pasak socialinės apsaugos ir darbo ministrės Monikos Navickienės, Lietuva sieks efektyviai prisidėti prie globalios lyčių lygybės darbotvarkės formavimo.
„Moterų dalyvavimas viešajame gyvenime, sprendimų priėmime ir smurto prieš moteris panaikinimas, lygių galimybių užtikrinimas, moterų lyderystė – tai pagrindinės temos, apie kurias diskutuojame šiame formate. Tai reiškia, kad mūsų balsas bus dar labiau girdimas, mūsų interesams dar aktyviau atstovaujama. Taip pat, be abejonės, turėsime galimybę didinti tarptautinės bendruomenės pastangas palaikant Ukrainą ir ypač jos moteris“, – teigia M. Navickienė.
JT Moterų padėties komisijos narėmis yra 45 JT valstybės narės, kurios renkamos remiantis geografiniu pasiskirstymu: 13 narių iš Afrikos, 11 narių iš Azijos, 9 – iš Lotynų Amerikos ir Karibų jūros regiono, 8 – iš Vakarų Europos ir kitų valstybių, 4 – iš Rytų Europos.
Valstybės narės renkamos 4-erių metų kadencijai.
Moterų padėties komisija, stebinti, kaip laikomasi moterų ekonominių, pilietinių, socialinių ir švietimo teisių, prie JT Ekonomikos ir socialinių reikalų tarybos įkurta1946 m.
