Rugpjūčio 28 dieną užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis susitikime su Australijos Parlamento senatore, Baltijos šalių grupės pirmininke Deborah O’Neill aptarė stiprėjančius Australijos ir Lietuvos ryšius ir padėkojo Australijai už paramą Ukrainai.
„Australijos ir Baltijos šalių draugystės grupė neabejotinai pagerins šių šalių politinius ir ekonominius ryšius. Tai tvirtas žingsnis toliau stiprinant mūsų parlamentų bendradarbiavimą ir puoselėjant dvišalius santykius“, – sakė ministras, kalbėdamas apie Australijos Parlamente veikiančią Baltijos šalių grupę, įkurtą siekiant gerinti Australijos ir Baltijos šalių politinius bei ekonominius santykius.
Lietuvos diplomatijos vadovas taip pat padėkojo senatorei Deborah O’Neill už Australijos teikiamą paramą Ukrainai. Ministras aptarė ateities paramos planus bei pakvietė Australiją tęsti paramą Ukrainai, kuri yra neabejotinai vertinama ir matoma.
Ministras su Australijos Parlamento senatore diskutavo apie neseniai patvirtintą Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regiono strategiją bei stiprėjantį Lietuvos ir Australijos ekonominį bendradarbiavimą. „Tikimės, kad rengiami dvišaliai ekonominiai ir Europos Sąjungos bei Australijos susitarimai dar labiau paskatins dvišalius ekonominius ryšius“, – teigė G. Landsbergis.
Lietuviškos kilmės produktų eksportas į Australiją 2022 metais augo 44 proc. Rengiamas laisvosios prekybos susitarimas tarp Europos Sąjungos (ES) ir Australijos galėtų reikšmingai pagerinti verslo sąlygas ES, kartu ir Lietuvos, įmonėms Australijoje.
Užsienio reikalų ministras pasveikino stiprėjančią NATO ir Australijos partnerystę bei pažymėjo, kad Lietuvai buvo garbė priimti Australijos Ministrą Pirmininką Anthony Albanese Vilniuje, NATO viršūnių susitikimo metu.
