Atsižvelgus į geopolitinę situaciją ir kylančias naujas grėsmes nacionaliniam saugumui, Vidaus reikalų ministerija parengė ir pateikė derinti suinteresuotoms institucijoms Lietuvos Respublikos pilietybės įstatymo pakeitimo projektą.
Šiomis įstatymo pataisomis apribojamos galimybės grėsmę nacionaliniam saugumui keliantiems asmenims įgyti ar atkurti Lietuvos Respublikos pilietybę, taip pat išplečiami pilietybės netekimo pagrindai.
„Antivalstybine veikla užsiimantys ir šalis agresores palaikantys asmenys negali būti Lietuvos Respublikos piliečiais. Šiomis pataisomis valstybei suteikiami įrankiai ginti nacionalinio saugumo interesus“, – pabrėžia įstatymo pataisų iniciatorė vidaus reikalų ministrė Agnė Bilotaitė.
LR pilietybės įstatymo pakeitimais siūloma atimti Lietuvos Respublikos pilietybę iš asmenų, kurie turi dvigubą pilietybę, bet kelia grėsmę Lietuvos valstybės saugumui, viešai palaiko užsienio valstybę, kuri kelia grėsmę Lietuvos ir kitų Europos Sąjungos valstybių bei jų sąjungininkų saugumo interesams, remia užsienio valstybės vykdomą tarptautinės teisės principus ir normas pažeidžiančią veiką ar šioje veikoje dalyvauja. Esant šioms aplinkybėms LR pilietybę siūloma atimti nepriklausomai nuo to, kokiu pagrindu ji buvo įgyta.
Šiuo metu LR pilietybės netekimas tokiu pagrindu numatytas, tik jeigu asmuo pilietybę įgijo išimties tvarka, t. y., jeigu pilietybę suteikė Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidentas už ypatingus nuopelnus Lietuvos Respublikai.
Taip pat siekiant iš anksto užkirsti kelią galimoms grėsmėms nacionalinio saugumo interesams, siūloma nustatyti, kad asmeniui, kuris kelia grėsmę valstybės saugumui ar viešajai tvarkai arba asmeniui, kuris viešai reiškia palaikymą užsienio valstybei, keliančiai grėsmę Lietuvos Respublikos ir (ar) kitų Europos Sąjungos valstybių narių, ir (ar) jų sąjungininkų saugumo interesams, remia užsienio valstybės vykdomą tarptautinės teisės principus ir normas pažeidžiančią veiką ar šioje veikoje dalyvauja, Lietuvos Respublikos pilietybė nesuteikiama, neatkuriama, neišsaugoma ir negrąžinama.
