Liepos 9 dieną, sekmadienį, Sidnėjaus lietuviai, kaip ir kasmet, susirinko paminėti Lietuvos karaliaus Mindaugo karūnavimo dieną. Šiais metais lietuviai 770-ąjį karūnavimo jubiliejų pasirinko švęsti kino teatre, žiūrėdami 2020 metais lietuvės Giedrės Žickytės sukurtą filmą „Šuolis“.
Renginio pradžioje Sidnėjaus lietuvių bendruomenė pasidalijo prisiminimais apie bendruomenės renginius – Jonines, keliones po Australiją su Lietuvos ir Ukrainos vėliavomis rankose. Bendruomenės nariai paraginti Lietuvos Respublikos Generalinės garbės konsulės Gintai Viliūnas visi kartu skandavo Lietuvos vardą.
Minėjimą vainikavo lietuviško dokumentinio filmo „Šuolis“ peržiūra – tai istorija apie Simą Kudirką, lietuvių jūreivį, sovietų okupacijos metais tarnavusį SSRS laivyne ir 1970 metais perbėgusį į JAV laivą „Vigilant“. Pabėgimas, anuomet virtęs tarptautinio garso įvykiu, liudijo pasauliui apie lietuvio drąsą ir laisvės troškimą sovietų okupacijos akivaizdoje.
