Liepos 25 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministras Egidijus Meilūnas susitiko su užsienyje studijuojančiais lietuviais, dalyvaujančiais pirmą kartą Lietuvos institucijose ir įstaigose įgyvendinamoje pažintinėje programoje, kurios tikslas – paskatinti jaunimą po studijų užsienyje grįžti ir savo tolesnę karjerą kurti Lietuvoje, taip pat sudaryti galimybę užsienyje studijuojančiam jaunimui susipažinti su Lietuvos viešojo sektoriaus veikla, geriau pažinti modernią ir atvirą Lietuvą.
Užsienio reikalų ministerijoje vykusio susitikimo metu viceministras E. Meilūnas pristatė Lietuvos diasporos strateginius tikslus ir galimybes, kurias Lietuva siūlo diasporos jaunimui. „Sveikinu jus sugrįžus namo – į Lietuvą. Tikiu, kad ši programa ne tik praturtins jūsų žinias, bet padės apsispręsti savo ateitį sieti su Lietuva“, – sveikindamas studentus sakė užsienio reikalų viceministras E. Meilūnas.
Susitikime dalyvavę jaunuoliai, studijuojantys ar baigę studijas įvairiuose pasaulio universitetuose, sakė, kad norėtų užsienio valstybėse įgytą patirtį pritaikyti Lietuvoje, bei pastebėjo, kad yra daug sričių, kuriose kitos valstybės galėtų pasimokyti iš Lietuvos. „Galime didžiuotis Lietuva!“ – šie žodžiai skambėjo studentų pasisakymuose.
Programoje dalyvaujantys jaunuoliai, studijuojantys Jungtinėje Karalystėje, Naujoje Zelandijoje, Nyderlanduose ir Prancūzijoje, susipažins su Aplinkos, Ekonomikos ir inovacijų, Krašto apsaugos, Užsienio reikalų ministerijų ir Lietuvos nacionalinės Martyno Mažvydo bibliotekos veikla. Taip pat planuojami susitikimai su Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidento, Vyriausybės ir Seimo kanceliarijų atstovais.
Programą, kurios idėją pasiūlė Pasaulio lietuvių studentų organizacija, rengia ir koordinuoja Užsienio reikalų ministerija, bendradarbiaudama su kitomis Lietuvos institucijomis ir įstaigomis. Užsienio reikalų ministerija koordinuoja ir įgyvendina Lietuvos diasporos politiką, kurios vienas iš strateginių tikslų – grįžimo į Lietuvą skatinimas.
