Rugsėjo 21 dieną viceministras Jonas Survila pagerbė Holokausto aukas, dalyvaudamas Vilniuje vykusiame Lietuvos žydų genocido aukų atminimo dienos ir Vilniaus geto likvidavimo 80-ųjų metinių minėjime.

Survila kartu su aukščiausiais valstybės pareigūnais, įvairių Lietuvos institucijų vadovais, kelių dešimčių mokyklų mokiniais ir mokytojais, Lietuvos žydų (litvakų) bendruomenės nariais, mūsų šalyje reziduojančiais užsienio šalių ambasadoriais ir tarptautinės žydų bendruomenės atstovais dalyvavo Atminties kelio į Panerių memorialą eisenoje ir Panerių memoriale vykusioje Holokausto aukų pagerbimo ceremonijoje.
Lietuvos žydų genocido atminimo diena Lietuvoje kasmet minima rugsėjo 23-ąją. Tą dieną 1943 metais nacių okupacinė valdžia likvidavo Vilniaus getą ir Panerių miške nužudė didžiąją dalį gete kalintų žydų. Per baisiausią 20 amžiaus tragediją – Holokaustą – netekome maždaug 190 tūkstančių nužudytų mūsų bendrapiliečių žydų, kartu su kitomis Lietuvoje gyvenusiomis tautomis kūrusių Lietuvos valstybę.
