Balandžio 26 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministras Mantas Adomėnas lankėsi Baku, Azerbaidžane, kur surengtos dvišalės politinės konsultacijos su Azerbaidžano užsienio reikalų ministro pavaduotoju Khalaf Khalafovu, susitikimai su Azerbaidžano užsienio reikalų ministru Jeyhun Bayramovu ir Azerbaidžano prezidento patarėju Hikmet Hajiyevu.
Susitikimuose aptarti Lietuvos ir Azerbaidžano dvišaliai santykiai, ekonominio bendradarbiavimo klausimai, Europos Sąjungos ir Azerbaidžano partnerystė bei padėtis Pietų Kaukazo regione.
Viceministras M. Adomėnas paminėjo dvišalių vizitų gausą pastaruoju metu, augančią tarpusavio prekybos apyvartą ir pažymėjo, kad Azerbaidžanas yra svarbiausias Lietuvos partneris ES Dvynių programoje (vien per 2022 metus buvo įgyvendinti 4 projektai).
Kalbant apie Azerbaidžano ir ES santykius viceministras M. Adomėnas pažymėjo, kad Azerbaidžanas yra svarbus strateginis ES partneris, siekiant diversifikuoti energetinį saugumą.
Viceministras pabrėžė, kad beprecedentės Rusijos agresijos prieš Ukrainą kontekste ypač svarbu siekti taikaus Armėnijos ir Azerbaidžano konflikto sureguliavimo bei paragino vengti įtampas keliančios retorikos ir veiksmų, prisidedančių prie konflikto eskalacijos. „Lietuva kartu su ES yra pasirengę stiprinti pastangas, siekiant taikaus ir suverenaus Pietų Kaukazo šalių vystymosi“, – sakė viceministras.
Susitikimuose taip pat aptartas pasirengimas gegužės 8 dieną Vilniuje rengiamam 7-ajam Lietuvos – Azerbaidžano tarpvyriausybinės komisijos posėdžiui.
