Gegužės 15 dieną nuolatinis Lietuvos atstovas Jungtinėse Tautose (JT) Niujorke ambasadorius Rytis Paulauskas Estijos, Latvijos bei Lietuvos vardu pasisakė JT Saugumo Taryboje dėl humanitarinės padėties Ukrainoje, pažymėdamas JT Juodosios jūros grūdų iniciatyvos svarbą.
„Ukraina, net ir Rusijos agresijos metu, išlieka viena iš 5 didžiausių pasaulio žemės ūkio produktų eksportuotojų, kurios tiekiama produkcija maitina 400 mln. žmonių visame pasaulyje. JT Juodosios jūros grūdų iniciatyva, o taip pat „Grūdai iš Ukrainos” ir „ES solidarumo linijos“ iniciatyvos suvaidino svarbų vaidmenį sušvelninant Rusijos karo Ukrainoje neigiamą poveikį pasaulinei maisto rinkai. Jei Rusija siektų rimtai spręsti maisto trūkumo problemą besivystančio pasaulio regionuose, ji sustabdytų savo grasinimus vienašališkai pasitraukti iš Juodosios jūros grūdų iniciatyvos ir nutrauktų laivų tikrinimo vilkinimą“, – teigė ambasadorius R. Paulauskas.
Lietuvos atstovas pažymėjo, kad Baltijos valstybės labai vertina JT ir jos agentūrų darbą teikiant humanitarinę pagalbą Ukrainos žmonėms, užtikrinant žmogaus teisių stebėseną bei dokumentuojant žmogaus teisių ir tarptautinės humanitarinės teisės pažeidimus. Šios valstybės ir toliau nuosekliai remia Ukrainos prezidento Volodimiro Zelenskio Taikos iniciatyvą bei siekia užtikrinti Rusijos atskaitomybę už agresiją prieš Ukrainą bei tarptautinės humanitarinės teisės nusikaltimus. Valstybės taip pat pasisako už Specialaus tarptautinio tribunolo sukūrimą tirti agresijos nusikaltimus.
Nuo Juodosios jūros grūdų iniciatyvos pradžios iš Ukrainos uostų eksportuota daugiau nei 30 milijonų metrinių tonų maisto produktų ir pašarų, iš kurių per 55 procentų skirta besivystančioms šalims, o beveik 6 procentai atiteko tiesiogiai mažiausiai išsivysčiusioms šalims. Naujausia JT maisto ir žemės ūkio organizacijos analizė rodo, kad pasaulinės grūdų kainos sumažėjo beveik 20 procentų per pastaruosius 12 mėnesių.
