2022 metų gruodį Jungtinių Tautų Generalinė Asamblėja priėmė rezoliuciją, raginančią visas valstybes įsipareigoti nevykdyti destruktyvių tiesioginio pakilimo priešpalydovinių raketų bandymų (DA-ASAT). Ši rezoliucija, kurią Lietuva parėmė ir priimta didele balsų dauguma, yra svarbus žingsnis saugant saugią ir stabilią kosmoso aplinką.
Lietuva tokius bandymus vertina kaip destabilizuojančius ir neatsakingus. Destruktyvūs DA-ASAT raketų bandymai gali sukurti daug kosminių šiukšlių, dėl ko Žemės orbita taptų pavojingesne, ir gali turėti platų ir negrįžtamą poveikį kosmoso aplinkai. Kosmosas atlieka gyvybiškai svarbų vaidmenį pasaulio klestėjimui, vystymuisi ir saugumui. Kosmoso sistemos tapo integruotos į pasaulinę infrastruktūrą, nuo kurios priklauso šiuolaikinis gyvenimas.
