Balandžio 28 dieną Lietuva, Latvija ir Estija bendru pareiškimu Arria formulės susitikime Jungtinių Tautų Saugumo Tarybos paraštėse kreipėsi į tarptautinę bendruomenę kviesdama reikalauti, jog Rusijos Federacija grąžintų beveik 20 tūkstančių priverstinai perkeltų vaikų. Baltijos valstybės bendrame pareiškime taip pat reikalavo, kad Rusija pateiktų išvežtų vaikų registracijos sąrašus ir leistų nepriklausomiems stebėtojams netrukdomai patekti į Rusijos kontroliuojamas ar laikinai okupuotas Ukrainos teritorijas.
„Prievarta perkeldama vaikus Rusija vykdo didžiulio masto vaikų grobimą bei aktyviai siekia naikinti jų ukrainietišką tapatybę, sukeldama emocinę ir psichologinę traumą. Rusija pažeidžia tarptautinę humanitarinę teisę, o jos veiksmai yra karo nusikaltimas, už kurį turi būti taikoma baudžiamoji atsakomybė“, – teigė nuolatinis Lietuvos atstovas Jungtinėse Tautose ambasadorius Rytis Paulauskas.
Bendrajame Baltijos valstybių pareiškime Jungtinės Tautos paragintos reikalauti iš Rusijos duomenų apie pagrobtus vaikus bei juos paskelbti atsakingoms JT institucijoms, įskaitant UNICEF, Specialiosios įgaliotinės Vaikų ginkluotų konfliktų klausimams biurą, Vyriausiojo žmogaus teisių komisaro biurą.
Baltijos šalys pasisakyme taip pat pasmerkė Rusijos prezidento Vladimiro Putino dekretą, kuriuo Rusijos laikinai okupuotose Ukrainos teritorijose gyvenantys ukrainiečiai, atsisakę tapti Rusijos piliečiais, būtų deportuojami.
Arria formulės susitikimą JT Saugumo Tarybos paraštėse organizavo Albanija, Prancūzija ir JAV. Prie susitikimo prisidėjo 40 JT valstybių, įskaitant Lietuvą, taip pat ir Europos Sąjungą. Rusija susitikimo išvakarėse užblokavo susitikimo tiesioginę transliaciją JT platformoje.
Ukrainos institucijų duomenimis nuo Rusijos karo pradžios, 2022 metų vasarį beveik, 20 tūkstančių vaikų buvo deportuoti arba priverstinai perkelti į Rusiją, Rusijos laikinai okupuotas teritorijas ar Baltarusiją. Per šį laiką tik 361 vaikas grąžintas į Ukrainą.
