Gruodžio 6 dieną užsienio reikalų ministras Gabrielius Landsbergis atsisveikino su kadenciją baigiančiu Australijos ambasadoriumi Lietuvai Lloydu Brodricku.
Susitikimo metu ministras padėkojo ambasadoriui už asmenį indėlį stiprinant ir plėtojant Lietuvos ir Australijos dvišalį bendradarbiavimą.
„Lietuva ir Australija yra bendramintės šalys, nepaisant didelio geografinio atstumo, galime džiaugtis draugiškais ir konstruktyviais santykiais, puoselėjamomis bendromis vertybėmis bei augančiu bendradarbiavimu politiniame, ekonominiame, saugumo lauke“, – kalbėjo G. Landsbergis.
Užsienio reikalų ministras su ambasadoriumi aptarė Lietuvos ir Australijos ekonominį bendradarbiavimą – dvišalė prekybos apyvarta nuo 2019 m. išaugo tris kartus. Pokalbio metu taip pat paminėti svarbūs pastarųjų metų bendradarbiavimo pasiekimai: Lietuva atidarė ambasadą Australijoje, Vilniuje atidarytas Australijos prekybos ir investicijų komisijos biuras „Austrade“, 2023 metų birželio 15 dieną Australijos Parlamente Kanberoje įkurta Baltijos šalių draugų grupė.
Ministras ir ambasadorius trumpai apžvelgė pastarųjų metų Lietuvos ir Australijos aukšto lygio vizitus. 2022 m. vasario 8 dieną įvyko Gabrieliaus Landsbergio vizitas Australijoje, NATO viršūnių susitikimo metu Lietuvoje lankėsi Australijos Ministras Pirmininkas Anthony Albanese, o 2023 m. spalį įvyko Lietuvos Prezidento vizitas į Australiją.
Australijos ambasadorius Lloydas Brodrickas skiriamuosius raštus Lietuvos Prezidentui Gitanui Nausėdai įteikė 2019 m. lapkričio 28 dieną.
