2023 m. gruodžio 13 dieną Lietuvos ambasadoje Paryžiuje įvyko susitikimas su rašytoja, menotyros mokslų daktare Kristina Sabaliauskaite. Paklausyti diskusijos, kurią moderavo buvusi Prancūzijos lietuvių bendruomenės pirmininkė, politologė dr. Emilija Pundziūtė-Gallois, susirinko pilna ambasados salė.
„Šis susitikimas Paryžiuje, kurį su Kristina planavome beveik 4 metus, simboliškai atverčia 2024 metus – Lietuvos Sezono Prancūzijoje metus“ , – tardamas įžanginį žodį akcentavo Lietuvos ambasadorius Prancūzijoje Nerijus Aleksiejūnas.
Šiais metais paskutiniame atstovybėje organizuojamame renginyje Kristina Sabaliauskaitė pabrėžė kultūros svarbą, kuri tarsi vizitinė kortelė leidžia atskleisti tautos išskirtinumą. Rašytojos mintys apie unikalaus lietuviško identiteto sklaidą per kultūrinį spektrą rezonuoja su pagrindinėmis būsimo Lietuvos sezono Prancūzijoje temomis.
Šiemet Kristinos Sabaliauskaitės romanų dilogija „Petro imperatorė“ buvo išversta į prancūzų kalbą ir sulaukė puikių kritikų atsiliepimų Prancūzijoje. Rašytoja neslėpė, jog jos istorinių romanų vertimas į prancūzų ar kitų toliau nuo Lietuvos esančių valstybių kalbas yra svarbus siekiant kuo plačiau skleisti lietuvišką istorinę patirtį.
Skaitomiausia autorė lietuvių literatūroje taip pat kalbėjo apie savo asmeninį ryšį su Prancūzija bei dalinosi vaizdingais prisiminimais apie gyvenimą ir studijas Paryžiuje. Gausiai į renginį susirinkusi Prancūzijos lietuvių bendruomenė negailėjo rašytojai drąsių klausimų apie jos karjerą, kūrybą, glaudų ryšį su Vilniumi ir jo istorija.
Ryškiausia istorinio romano žanro kūrėja Kristina Sabaliauskaitė debiutavo 2008 m. parašiusi pirmąjį istorinių romanų ciklo „Silva rerum“ tomą, kuris pelnė Jurgos Ivanauskaitės premiją ir buvo skaitytojų išrinktas Lietuvos Metų knyga 2009 m.
2019 m. išleistas pirmasis dilogijos „Petro imperatorė“ romanas, tapęs vienu didžiausių bestselerių Lietuvoje. Šiais metais abu „Petro imperatorės“ tomai pasirodė Prancūzijos knygynuose prancūzų kalba.
2017 m. K. Sabaliauskaitė buvo apdovanota ordino „Už nuopelnus Lietuvai“ medaliu. 2023 m. sausio 18 d. Vilniaus savivaldybės tarybos sprendimu Kristinai Sabaliauskaitei buvo suteiktas Vilniaus garbės pilietės vardas.
