Rugsėjo 22 dieną Užsienio reikalų ministerijoje įvyko Lietuvos užsienio reikalų viceministrės Jovitos Neliupšienės ir viceministro Jono Survilos susitikimai su Sakartvelo užsienio reikalų ministro pavaduotoju Teimuraz Janjalia.
Viceministrė J. Neliupšienė susitikime aptarė Sakartvelo reformos ir Europos Komisijos rekomendacijų, siekiant Europos Sąjungos (ES) kandidatės statuso, įgyvendinimą, ir pabrėžė, kad priimant sprendimą dėl kandidatės statuso suteikimo Sakartvelui Europos Sąjungos institucijos pirmiausia remsis Kopenhagos politiniais narystės kriterijais, pagrindinėmis Europos vertybėmis ir principais.
Viceministras J. Survila susitikime pabrėžė, kad Lietuva nuosekliai remia Sakartvelo europinės ir euroatlantinės integracijos siekius ir paragino Sakartvelo vyriausybę siekti, kad neliktų abejonių dėl šalies ilgalaikio įsipareigojimo europinėms, demokratinėms vertybėms. Tam reikalinga glaudžiau bendradarbiauti su šalies pilietine visuomene, mažinti vidaus politikos poliarizaciją, įgyvendinti kitas ES institucijų rekomendacijas.
