Kviečiame suskubti pateikti kūrinius, vaikų literatūros kritikos darbus, projektus, skatinančius skaitymą, ministerijos įsteigtai Vaikų literatūros premijai gauti. Darbai priimami Švietimo, mokslo ir sporto ministerijoje iki gruodžio 31 dienos.
Dviejų dalių premija skiriama už vaikų literatūros kūrinius ir už nuopelnus vaikų literatūros ir skaitymo populiarinimo srityje. Į premiją gali pretenduoti rašytojai, kultūros, švietimo darbuotojai, nuveikę reikšmingų darbų populiarindami vaikų literatūrą ir skaitymą. Švietimo, mokslo ir sporto ministerijai (adresas A. Volano g. 2, 01124, Vilnius) iki paskutinės šių metų dienos galima pateikti vaikų literatūros kūrinius, išleistas knygas, skaitymą skatinančius projektus, informaciją apie literatūrines-kūrybines akcijas, publikuotus literatūros kritikos straipsnius ir pan.
Renkant laureatus, atkreipiamas dėmesys į pastarųjų trejų metų autoriaus darbus vaikų literatūros srityje, meninę ir pedagoginę kūrinių vertę, jų naujumą, originalumą, reikšmę lietuvių literatūrai. Vertinant vaikų literatūros ir skaitymo populiarinimo srities darbus, taip pat atsižvelgiama į pastarųjų trejų metų pretendento darbus.
Pretendentus gali siūlyti asociacijos, švietimo įstaigos, savivaldybės, kiti juridiniai asmenys.
Vaikų literatūros premiją 2004 metais įsteigė Švietimo ir mokslo ministerija. Šia premija norima paskatinti, kad rastųsi daugiau kokybiškų kūrinių vaikams ir paaugliams, taip pat norima įvertinti švietimo, visuomeninių ar privačių įstaigų, asmenų indėlį populiarinant vaikų literatūrą, ugdant estetines, bendražmogiškas ir pilietines vertybes, skleidžiant originalias kūrybos iniciatyvas. Premija teikiama kasmet, minint Tarptautinę vaikų knygos dieną. Premija – 100 BSI (bazinė socialinė išmoka).
Šios premijos laureatais yra tapę Kęstutis Kasparavičius, Vytautas V. Landsbergis, Vytautė Žilinskaitė, Ramutė Skučaitė, Violeta Palčinskaitė, Ignė Zarambaitė, dailininkė Zofija Vainilaitienė ir daugelis kitų vaikų literatūros rašytojų, skaitymo skatintojų ir populiarintojų.
