Moderniomis sienos stebėjimo sistemomis jau kontroliuojamas visas – 678,82 km ilgio – Lietuvos pasienio su Baltarusija ruožas.
2022 metų pradžioje šių sistemų pagalba buvo stebima tik 53,3 proc. sienos su Baltarusija, metų pabaigoje – 96 proc.
„Pastaruosius pusantrų metų buvome Lukašenkos hibridinės atakos priešakyje. Instrumentalizuota migracija kaip reiškinys neišnyko ir, tikėtina, kad ji bus nuolat šalia. Privalome ir toliau stiprinti sienos apsaugos infrastruktūrą. Užbaigus sienos stebėjimo sistemų įdiegimą, kitas žingsnis – patrulio tako ir kontrolinės pėdsakų juostos įrengimas visame sienos su Baltarusija ruože“, – sako ministrė A. Bilotaitė.
Įrengus patrulio taką pasienyje su Baltarusija, pareigūnai galės operatyviau reaguoti į sienos pažeidimus ir fizinio barjero gadinimo atvejus.
Pasak ministrės A. Bilotaitės, investicijos į sienos apsaugą atsiperka ne tik užkardant neteisėtą migraciją, bet ir kovojant su kontrabanda.
Pernai pasieniečiai sulaikė rekordiškai daug kontrabandinių cigarečių, kurių vertė – virš 16,1 mln. eurų. Tai didžiausias metinis kiekis nelegalių rūkalų, VSAT sulaikytas per daugiau kaip du dešimtmečius. Užkardyta žala valstybei – 14,3 mln. eurų.
VSAT ir Vidaus reikalų ministerijos pastangomis rekordiškai greitai – per metus, Lietuvos pasienyje su Baltarusija buvo įrengta 530 km tvoros ir 360 km koncertinos barjero.
