Balandžio 5 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministras Mantas Adomėnas susitiko su Jungtinių Tautų Vyriausiojo pabėgėlių reikalų komisaro (UNHCR) atstovu Šiaurės ir Baltijos šalims (UNHCR Regional Representative for Nordic and Baltic countries) Henrik Nordentoft, kuris baigia beveik penkerius metus trukusią kadenciją.
Viceministras M. Adomėnas padėkojo H. Nordentoft už jo asmeninį indėlį palaikant konstruktyvius UNHCR ir Lietuvos kompetentingų institucijų santykius. Pokalbio metu aptarta kova su migracijos instrumentalizacija, parama karo pabėgėliams iš Ukrainos, pasiruošimas šių metų gruodį Ženevoje vyksiančiam Globaliam pabėgėlių forumui ir kiti aktualūs klausimai.
Viceministras M. Adomėnas pabrėžė Lietuvos paramą vasarį pristatytam UNHCR Regioniniam reagavimo į pabėgėlių situaciją dėl padėties Ukrainoje planui, kuriuo siekiama papildyti Lietuvos Vyriausybės vykdomas tikslines apsaugos, socialinės paramos ir integracijos priemones prieglobsčio Lietuvoje sulaukusiems daugiau negu 70 000 Ukrainos piliečių.
Stokholme reziduojančio UNHCR atstovo Šiaurės ir Baltijos valstybėms (Danijai, Estijai, Islandijai, Latvijai, Lietuvai, Norvegijai, Suomijai ir Švedijai) biuras užtikrina sąveiką su šių valstybių valdžios ir valdymo institucijomis, nevyriausybinėmis organizacijomis ir pilietine visuomene teikiant pagalbą ir apsaugą pabėgėliams, priverstiniu būdu perkeltiems asmenims ir asmenims be pilietybės.
