2023 m. valstybė finansavo daugiau kaip tūkstančio į Lietuvą dėl karo Ukrainoje pasitraukusių ukrainiečių studijas. Bakalauro ir vientisąsias studijas Lietuvos valstybinėse aukštosiose mokyklose pasirinkusiems ukrainiečiams šiemet iš viso skirta 4,6 mln. eurų valstybės paramos.
Valstybė aukštosioms mokykloms, priėmusioms ukrainiečių studentus, apmoka 60 proc. jų metinės studijų kainos. Likusią kainos dalį padengia pačios aukštosios mokyklos.
Lietuvoje studijuojantiems ukrainiečiams kas mėnesį skiriamos ir 300 eurų stipendijos pagrindiniams jų pragyvenimo poreikiams padengti bei studijoms reikalingoms priemonėms įsigyti.
Ukrainiečių studentai šiuo metu studijuoja 17-oje Lietuvos aukštųjų mokyklų. Daugiausia ukrainiečių rinkosi studijas Vilniaus universitete, Vytauto Didžiojo universitete, VILNIUS TECH, Kauno technologijos universitete ir Vilniaus kolegijoje.
Tarp šių studentų populiariausios specialybės yra tarptautinis verslas, informacijos sistemos ir kibernetinė sauga, globali rinkodara, programų sistemos, apskaita ir finansai.
Lietuvoje norintys studijuoti ukrainiečiai, kaip ir kiti studentai, turi atitikti valstybės ir aukštųjų mokyklų nustatytus stojimo reikalavimus.
Valstybės parama ukrainiečių studentams skiriama nuo 2022 m. vasario, ją administruoja Valstybinis studijų fondas.
