Gegužės 25 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministrė Jovita Neliupšienė dalyvavo Europos Sąjungos (ES) Užsienio reikalų taryboje prekybos klausimais, kurioje buvo aptartas ES ir JAV bendradarbiavimas prekybos srityje, ES ir Kinijos prekybiniai santykiai, pasirengimas Pasaulio prekybos organizacijos (PPO) 13-ajai ministrų konferencijai ir šiuo metu vykstančios ES derybos dėl laisvosios prekybos susitarimų.
„JAV yra strateginė ES partnerė, tad šis bendradarbiavimas ir toliau turi būti grindžiamas bendru geopolitinių iššūkių vertinimu“, – teigė viceministrė. Kaip sėkmingą bendradarbiavimo pavyzdį J. Neliupšienė išskyrė ES ir JAV Prekybos ir Technologijų Tarybą, kurios susitikimas vyks gegužės 30-31 dienomis Švedijoje. Viceministrė ragino dar aktyviau dirbti su JAV ekonominio saugumo klausimais.
Kalbėdama apie ES ir Kinijos prekybinius santykius, viceministrė pabrėžė, kad svarbu veiksmingiau taikyti jau esamus ir kurti naujus ES prekybos politikos instrumentus, ypač – kuo greičiau užbaigti reglamento dėl apsaugos nuo ekonominės prievartos priėmimą. „Europa turi maksimaliai sumažinti savo ekonominę priklausomybę nuo Kinijos. Tai užtikrintų, kad Kinija negalėtų daryti įtakos ES politikai per ekonomiką ir nesustiprintume Kinijos pajėgumų, kurie galėtų būti panaudoti prieš mus“ – pabrėžė viceministrė.
Prekybos ministrai taip pat aptarė šiuo metu vykstančias dvišales derybas dėl laisvosios prekybos sutarčių. Viceministrė J. Neliupšienė akcentavo, kad svarbu stiprinti prekybinius ryšius Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regione. Tai pirmiausiai turėtų būti daroma su panašiai mąstančiais partneriais, nes ES prekybos susitarimai turi prisidėti prie ES vertybių sklaidos.
Pasirengimo PPO ministrų konferencijai klausimu Europos Komisija pateikė naujausią informaciją apie planuojamus jos rezultatus ir PPO reformos procesą.
Taryboje taip pat priimtas sprendimas dėl laikinų prekybos liberalizavimo priemonių, papildančių ES ir Ukrainos asociacijos susitarimą, atnaujinimo vienerių metų laikotarpiui. Šiomis priemonėmis tęsiama visapusiška parama Ukrainai, kovojant su Rusijos sukeltos agresijos padariniais.
