Neformaliame Europos Sąjungos žemės ūkio ministrų susitikime Belgijoje, kuriame diskutuota ES apsirūpinimo augaliniais baltymais tema, Lietuvos žemės ūkio ministerijos atstovai kėlė klausimą dėl žemės ūkio produktų, įskaitant baltyminius augalus, daržoves bei kitus, importo iš Rusijos ir Baltarusijos ribojimo.
„Lietuva pasiūlė į sąrašą produktų, kuriems bus taikomi padidinti muito mokesčiai, įtraukti ir daržoves“, – sakė susitikime dalyvavęs žemės ūkio viceministras Egidijus Giedraitis.
Nors pastaruoju metu ES augalinių baltymų gamyba didėja, vis tik ES didžiąją dalį jų importuoja. Susitikime vyravo nuomonė, kad reikia gerinti ES apsirūpinimą augaliniais baltymais, diversifikuoti jų importą, nes tai labai svarbu strateginei ES autonomijai šioje srityje. Augalinių baltymų gamybos plėtojimas ES gali ne tik duoti ekonominės naudos ūkininkams ir maisto bei pašarų gamintojams, bet ir įvairiais aspektais pasitarnauti aplinkai bei kovai su klimato kaita.
ES yra numatyta galimybė augalinius baltymus remti per Bendrosios žemės ūkio politikos strateginius planus: sektorines intervencijas, ekologines sistemas, susietąją paramą. Į savo strateginius planus bent dalį šių paskatų įtraukė net 20 valstybių narių. „Turime skatinti ūkininkus įvairinti augalininkystę ir auginti daug baltymų turinčius augalus. Tai ne tik padidintų baltymų įvairovę, bet ir prisidėtų prie dirvožemio sveikatos bei biologinės įvairovės išsaugojimo“, – pabrėžė žemės ūkio viceministras E. Giedraitis.
Susitikimo dalyviai ragino Europos Komisiją parengti platesnę ES apsirūpinimo baltymais strategiją, galvoti ir apie papildomus instrumentus, finansinę paskatą gamintojams. Plėtrai labai aktualu moksliniai tyrimai, įskaitant tvarių pašarų gamybos, žinių sklaida, inovacijos.
Europos Komisijos nuomone, strateginė ES autonomija svarbi, bet turi būti pripažinta ir tarptautinės prekybos svarba bei nauda. Aktualios ir valstybių narių iniciatyvos šioje srityje, būtinas glaudus koordinavimas tarp skirtingų sektorių ir visų maisto grandinės grandžių.
