Lietuvos ambasada Londone kartu su Jungtinės Karalystės (JK) lietuvių jaunimo sąjunga gegužės 2 dieną surengė lietuvių menininkų darbų parodą „Madagaskaras“.
Parodos atidaryme dalyvavo ir sveikinimo žodžius tarė Lietuvos kultūros atašė JK Ūla Tornau ir diplomatas, kuruojantis ryšius su diaspora, Tadas Kubilius. Ambasados atstovai pasidžiaugė pirmą kartą organizuojama paroda ir palinkėjo jauniesiems menininkams nesibaigiančio kūrybinio įkvėpimo.
Renginio metu net 12 talentingų lietuvių jaunuolių iš skirtingų JK miestų pristatė plataus spektro darbus: trumpametražius filmus, iliustracijas, tapybos bei fotografijos kūrinius. Vakaro dalyviams, tarp kurių buvo lietuvių bendruomenės atstovai ir Lietuvos draugai, buvo parodyti: Beatričės Rastaitytės paveikslai (Mančesteris), Julijos Straižytės iliustracijos (Edinburgas), Austėjos Čegytės nuotraukos (Londonas), Fabijaus Kasperaviciaus skaitmeninis dekupažas (Londonas), Brigitos Grubliauskytės paveikslai (Londonas), Elžbietos Vozbinaitės trumpametražiai filmai (Edinburgas), Gertrūdos Kalvynaitės portretai (Edinburgas), Beatričės Baronaitės Lau skaitmeninės iliustracijos (Londonas), Gintės Reginos filmai, Ievos Narvidaitės meninio įvaizdžio konceptai (Londonas), Arno Tamašausko paveikslai (Liverpulis), Rugilės Alminaitės pasveikslai (Bakingemšyras). Po atidarymo dalis kūrinių liks puošti ambasados didžiąją salę.
Tos pačios dienos popietę ambasadoje taip pat vyko JK lietuvių jaunimo sąjungos organizuotas „Popietinės arbatos klubo“ susitikimas su dokumentinių filmų režisiere ir prodiusere, 2022 metais apdovanota Lietuvos nacionalinės kultūros ir meno premija už veržlų ir įspūdingą kūrybinį šuolį, Giedre Žickyte. Susitikimo metu režisierė pasidalino istorijomis apie ją kurti įkvėpusius personažus, dokumentinio kino žanro ypatybes bei atsakinėjo į dalyvių klausimus.
Paroda „Madagaskaras“ ambasadoje veiks kaip saviraiškos ir sklaidos platforma, leidžianti jauniems JK gyvenantiems lietuvių menininkams užmegzti ryšius bei atskleisti savo kūrybą. Projekto pavadinimas simbolizuoja lietuvių kultūros raišką už šalies ribų, norą išsaugoti autentiškumą, tuo pačiu atkreipiant užsienio dėmesį į šalies talentus. Paroda tikslingai neturi vieno apjungiančio naratyvo, kad galėtų atskleisti platesnį jaunųjų kūrėjų požiūrių bei kūryboje vaizduojamų temų spektrą.
