Balandžio 20 dieną užsienio reikalų viceministras Egidijus Meilūnas susitiko su Pietų Korėjos viceministru daugiašaliams ir globaliems reikalams Park Yong-Min. Pietų Korėjos vyriausybės atstovas Lietuvoje lankosi politinėms konsultacijoms daugiašaliais klausimais bei dalyvauja balandžio 20–21 dieną Vilniuje vyksiančioje NATO bei Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regionų partnerių konferencijoje.
Susitikime viceministras E. Meilūnas pasidžiaugė sparčiai besivystančiais Lietuvos ir Pietų Korėjos dvišaliais santykiais ir aptarė politinio bei ekonominio bendradarbiavimo potencialą.
„Lietuva vykdo strateginę diversifikaciją, kurios viena pagrindinių krypčių yra ryšių su bendramintėmis Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regiono šalimis plėtojimas ir bendradarbiavimo gilinimas. Korėjos Respubliką matome kaip vieną svarbiausių mūsų partnerių regione, su kuria siekiame mūsų visapusišką bendradarbiavimą pakelti į aukštesnį lygmenį“, – sakė E. Meilūnas.
Susitikime viceministras E. Meilūnas padėkojo Pietų Korėjai už jos nuoseklią poziciją Rusijos karo prieš Ukrainą klausimu, taip pat pabrėžė būtinybę didinti tarptautinę paramą Ukrainai. Susitikimo metu taip pat buvo pabrėžta kolektyvinių pastangų svarba ginant taisyklėmis grįstą pasaulio tvarką, aptartas pasirengimas NATO viršūnių susitikimui, vyksiančiam liepos 11–12 dienomis Vilniuje, kuriame planuoja dalyvauti ir Pietų Korėjos atstovai.
Lietuvai diversifikavus tiekimo grandines Indijos ir Ramiojo vandenynų regiono rinkose, pernai Lietuvos prekyba su Pietų Korėja išaugo 22 proc. ir siekė 211 mln. eurų, o lietuviškos kilmės prekių eksportas į Korėją padidėjo 23 proc. ir siekė 114 mln. eurų.
