Susitikimo metu ministras pasveikino ambasadorę pradėjus darbą Lietuvoje, aptarė dvišalių Lietuvos ir JAV santykių stiprinimą bei transatlantinio bendradarbiavimo svarbą, pasidžiaugė ekonominiais ryšiais, aptarė regioninio saugumo grėsmes, įskaitant būtinybę tęsti ir stiprinti paramą Ukrainai, Baltarusijos pilietinei visuomenei.
„JAV lyderystė labai svarbi pasauliui ir Lietuvai, pasibaigus Šaltajam karui, ji prisidėjo prie Lietuvos sėkmingų pastangų atkuriant nepriklausomybę”, – teigė ministras G. Landsbergis.
Ambasadorė Kara C. McDonald yra šešioliktoji JAV ambasadorė reziduojanti Lietuvoje. Lietuva ir JAV diplomatinius santykius užmezgė 1922 metais.
